Amref and the Outreach
You don’t know
what AMREF is?
Watch this video.
Amref Health Africa is the largest non-profit African health organization. Founded in 1957, it aims to improve health in Africa through the active involvement of local communities operating in more than 30 countries of the continent. The organization mainly relies on African staff (around 97%) who work every day alongside the communities, to bring health where nobody else arrives.
What is an Outreach?
An outreach is a medical home visit against malnutrition
In Kenya there are many rural communities that do not have access to health services because they are too far away, Amref has always been committed to reaching out to everyone, bringing health where no one else arrives.
To counter malnutrition in the county of Siaya, in Kenya, home medical interventions are carried out, called outreach, which aim to treat thousands of children under 5 suffering from malnutrition and to spread knowledge, forming communities on how to prevent malnutrition.
In order to reach children between the ages of 3 and 5, Amref performs its interventions in kindergartens by distributing thousands of vitamin D supplements, deworming, pediatric care and growth monitoring.
Amref also manages to gather a large number of mothers, initiating meetings and training on the importance of breastfeeding and putting young mothers in contact with older and more experienced ones, creating moments of confrontation and sharing that can help them grow children.
what we want to do!
Each outreach costs 250 euros. Our fundraiser aims to fund 10 home medical interventions!
Every 250 euros we manage to collect together we could finance an outreach.
250 euros X 10 outreach: 2500 euros!
This is the sum we would like to reach with this fundraiser, and this is why we will ride 2500 kilometers to Iceland.
Ride with us! Every euro you donate will correspond to one kilometer traveled with our bikes, let's reach our goal of 2500 together!
